Welcome to our little slice of Heaven known as British Columbia . Our Canadian Pacific PHLOC is spread out throughout this beautiful chunk of land on the West Coast of Canada. It is referred to by most people who visit, as the cleanest, friendliest place they have seen. We continually make the U.N.’s top ten list of most desirable places in the world to live …and we absolutely agree! Although our members live in greater Vancouver or Vancouver Island , we work and play in all areas of the Province.

Since most of you have never visited British Columbia , we will try to give you an idea of the area. British Columbia (a.k.a. B.C.) is the western most Province of Canada on the Pacific Ocean coast. It encompasses over 367 million square miles of some of the most breath taking scenery in the world. B.C. is Canada ’s third largest Province. It is four times the size of Great Britain, 2.5 times larger than Japan, it’s larger than any American State (excluding Alaska – our northern neighbor), and it is 1.35 times larger than Texas. There are only 30 nations in the world larger than British Columbia .

B.C.'s deeply indented Island dotted coastline extends over 4500 miles. Between rivers, lakes, and streams, over 7000 square miles of fresh water covers our Province, while 62% of our land is covered by forest. As we have some of the greatest natural resources in the world, British Columbians, are also global leaders in environmental and ecological protection.

Wildlife can be found in abundance here. With a combination of Mountains, Plains, and Grasslands, our Province is home to millions of birds of all species that migrate here every year. We are also home to some of the biggest population of Mountain Goats, Moose, Caribou, Deer, and Big Horn Sheep. People from all over the world travel to B.C. to see Black Bear, Grizzly Bear, Wolves, Cougars, and even Wolverines. These animals are special for sure, but our biggest attractions for tourists are our ocean, lakes, rivers, and streams. The Fraser River alone has the world’s largest Salmon run, with over 10,000,000 fish returning annually to spawn.

Vancouver Island , boasts some of the best fishing lodges and whale watching tours available anywhere on this planet. It is not uncommon to see huge pods of Killer Whales in paradise like settings on a daily basis. Grey Whales frequent the coastline for months every year on their annual migration south. Our Province is also a destination for world class diving and water sports.

British Columbia has a rich and deep native heritage that is prominent throughout the Province. The native legacy and culture has taught us all to appreciate the natural wonders bestowed upon this beautiful area. Because of its beauty and diversity, .B.C. has become a huge melting pot of cultures. People from all over the world have immigrated to B.C. to enjoy its laid back lifestyle. No matter where British Columbians originate from, we are all fiercely protective of our natural wonders and go to great lengths to preserve them for generations to come.

B.C. enjoys the best weather in all of Canada . In the greater Vancouver area, we rarely see below freezing temperatures. We can frequently enjoy golfing, windsurfing, boating, or skiing (snow or water) all on the same day ... be it in March or October. Our tourism slogan is "SUPERR NATURAL B.C.", and it truly is. Vancouver/Whistler has won the bid for the 2010 Winter Olympics where we will proudly show off our City and Province.

We invite all our Parrothead Phriends to visit our vast array of "particular harbours". This truly is a land and people you will never forget! Fins Up!
